Job Summary

Midway Utility Contractors, LLC is seeking an experienced Stick Welder to join our underground gas utility construction team in Seabrook, NH. The successful candidate will perform welding and fabrication work related to natural gas main installation, maintenance, and repair projects. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and working effectively in a construction environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform SMAW (Stick Welding) on steel gas main and service piping in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
• Prepare pipe and fittings for welding, including beveling, grinding, cleaning, and fit-up.
• Read and interpret construction drawings, weld procedures, and utility specifications.
• Inspect weld joints for proper alignment and quality before, during, and after welding.
• Assist crews with underground utility construction activities, trench work, and site preparation as needed.
• Operate welding equipment, grinders, cutting torches, and other construction tools safely and efficiently.
• Maintain welding certifications and comply with all company, client, OSHA, and utility safety requirements.
• Work closely with foremen, operators, laborers, and inspectors to complete projects on schedule.
• Complete daily reports, equipment inspections, and required job documentation.
• Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and ongoing training programs.
• Ensure all work is performed in a manner that protects the public, fellow employees, and underground facilities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of stick welding experience, preferably in utility, pipeline, gas distribution, or heavy civil construction.
• Experience welding carbon steel pipe.
• Ability to pass welding qualification tests as required.
• Knowledge of underground utility and natural gas distribution systems preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints, specifications, and weld procedure documents.
• Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and safety-first mindset.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work in trenches for extended periods.
• Ability to work overtime, and weekends, when necessary.
• Comfortable working in all weather and field construction conditions.
